More and More

I've been making more and more pieces. I've made a lot of thin, colorful bracelets that will look great layered. I've been working on rings... I want to call them multi-strand, which isn't accurate, of course. Multi-band? They're coiled rings, anyway, I will have to post some sneak peek pictures later this week. I have also been working on a lot of anklets.

I'm still using a lot of bright colors and a lot of sparkle. Look for hot pink, turquoise, fuchsia, and lime green. And a lot of Swarovski crystals and faceted glass. And trying to use more shells for Summer, and pearls for Summer nights. I'm making a lot of thin, dainty anklets. I'm also trying to incorporate silk flowers into jewelry and hair accessories. I currently have some daisy earrings and a ring in some different colors, and a lot of pieces in the process. I am leaning towards big, colorful roses and bright cheery daisies. But I've also found some unique flowers, including lotus look-a-likes, tiger lilies, purple orchids, and lily of the valley.

I tried something new tonight, making bridal/prom jewelry. I made a pearl and swarovski anklet, bracelet and choker. The anklet and bracelet are made of multi-colored pearls in shades of peach, cream, and very light pinks. The choker is made of white pearls. The pearls in all three pieces are very small, so they have a very, very dainty appearance. The Swarovski crystals add just the right amount of sparkle without outshining the pearls. I am really pleased with how these pieces turned out. However, I am not making this type of jewelry a priority as of now. I do love creating such pieces, but with the economy the way it is, I prefer to focus on affordable pieces. I won't deny that the economy has been a bit of a stumbling block for me (and most small businesses, I would imagine) but, in a way, it is good to look at is as a challenge. It is challenging me to make jewelry I love for less money that is still beautiful. That still uses gems, even. Pretty doesn't have to equal pricey.

I do plan to debut the hair accessories soon, I am behind on that. There have been some technical difficulties I've been working to iron out. I don't want to introduce a new item until I am satisfied with the final product, and I haven't been quite satisfied yet. I have so many new things I want to try, but I am trying to finish current projects before starting new ones. I love keeping things new, though. Sometimes it can be distracting, but it definitely keeps things fresh for me and my pieces. I highly doubt I will ever get bored with jewelry and accessories because there are an infinite amount of possibilities just waiting.

Keep checking back at my artfire shop, I am always listing new products. I created a ton of new pieces in March and April and I am pretty sure there will be a lot in May, as well. The shop is definitely stocking up on all the Summer jewelry essentials. As always, a good portion of these new pieces are Recession Friendly. Summer beauty doesn't have to equal big bucks.

As always, thank you for reading and shopping!

New Items Listed

I've been spending today listing items. I have a ton (no really, like 50) of new pieces that need to be listed, so check my shop this week. As promised, tons of color, tons of sparkle, my two favorite things! Here are some sneak peeks!

This is an anklet made of hot pink bugle beads and genuine Swarovski crystals.

Another anklet, also hot pink. Can you tell that's one of my favorite colors? This one has a beaded fringe, with genuine Swarovski crystal accents. Can you also tell that I adore Swarovski anything?

This is a bracelet, another hot pink piece (there are other colors in my shop, I swear!). I plan on making a bunch of cute little bracelets like this and selling them in sets, since they will look really great when stacked or layered.

This is a bracelet made up of purple, lavender and pale pink acrylic beads. The beads are sparkly, they look like they have rhinestones embedded in them.

This is one of my personal favorites, I considered keeping it for myself, but if I kept everything I loved, I wouldn't be running a business, I'd be building a personal collection! This is a shell bead bracelet with very subtle peachy/coral shades. Very summery.

I have a lot more items, like I said, waiting to be listed. I am hoping to list all 50+ items by the end of the month. My main priority is to keep making Recession Friendly pieces. But I am also making anklets and focusing a lot on flowers in my pieces. More and more Summer pieces are also on the list.

Thanks for reading!

Weekly Update

I am shooting for updating AT LEAST once a week. I have been soooo busy lately! My minimum number of pieces for this month was 50, I thought that was a pretty attainable goal, as I made about that many pieces in March. Well, we are not even half-way through April, and I am pretty sure I have met, if not exceeded, 50 pieces. I am quite proud of myself.

Now, of course, comes the "hard part", which is all the paperwork. It's actually not hard at all, just very time consuming and, yes, I admit it, boring. And I have very detailed methods, so it does take a while. I go through a few steps before I can figure out the Final Price (i.e. what you guys are paying). So I definitely want to get through at least some of that today, so I can begin listing some new pieces.

Let me just say this: keywords for April include sparkle, color, and shells. I have some bold pieces, color wise, think turquoise, hot pink, lime green. Different shells in different colors. And of course, tons of sparkling, faceted beads. Including Swarovski crystal, of course. Can't have a sparkle party without inviting Swarovski.

But let me put your minds at rest, there are plenty of Recession Friendly pieces to be debuted. Stud earrings are almost always Recession Friendly candidates. Many of the rings are as well. So don't think I have forgotten about that, I realize how hard times are. A lot of us can't afford any luxuries, but I am hoping that you can find a small luxury that fits your budget in my Recession Friendly category.

Speaking of Recession Friendly, it's come to my attention that the department is lacking necklaces. It will definitely be a fun challenge for me to rectify that mistake, I have quite a few ideas already in mind...

I will try and update more frequently, at least with some fun showcases.

As always, thanks for reading!

April Update

I just received an order of a few pieces of turquoise. The prices were great, I can not even begin to explain how good of a deal I got. I can't wait to use these babies in some Recession Friendly pieces. That's the good news. The bad news is, I'm no gemologist, so I can't guarantee these are real. My supplier says they are, of course, but the deal I got makes me wonder. But, if you are like me, you will love them no matter what they are, because they are just that gorgeous!! The order I made was relatively small, just to try them out. I will definitely order from them in the future. Even if these beads are faux turquoise, the price is still great. It's a very definite possibility that these are chalk turquoise or even dyed howlite. But like I said, these are so pretty it doesn't matter what they are!

I also made an order for a lot more ring bases, so expect to see a lot more adjustable rings. Also, I received more post earrings, so definitely a lot more of those will be available soon. I love the rose earrings (enough that I kept a pair to myself!) and others seem to share my opinion, so those will be the first items I carry that are not one of a kind. This was a long and hard decision, because I truly adore designing pieces that are unique. But I really do think the glitter rose earrings are special enough that they deserve a limited run. Limited means they will not always be available and there won't be a ton out there. They will still be special, just not one of a kind special. I am also considering this option with some of my rings. If you have any opinions on this, I would LOVE to hear them.

A brand new category for April: Anklets! I know a lot of the country are firmly stuck in Spring, and it may still seem like Winter in some areas, but here, we are enjoying almost perfect days. Not to brag or anything! I really want to list these as soon as possible, so you can get a little jump start on your summer jewelry options. Also in the summery theme, look for bright colors, I am talking aqua and fuschia! Bright colors are a summer staple, and they add just the right amount of "Wow!" to your Summer whites. Also look for shells, another staple. I've acquired some interesting specimens I can not wait to work with. Look for pearls, too, the perfect accessory for those summer date nights. And rings will be a big part of this, I am designing some real eye catching rings, think flashy starfish and jeweled sand dollars.

I can't promise it in April, but I am also slowly branching out to men's jewelry. I promise pieces will be available this summer, but I can't make any promises other than that. Still trying to work on designs; I am one of those girls that love glitter, sparkle, and color, and am therefor not the best judge of what is or isn't manly. So I am trying to work with some male friends and my boyfriend to figure out what is and isn't appropriate. Apparently sparkly things are a no-no.

So that is what you can look forward to. There will of course be surprises on the way (for me as well as you!) and I will definitely make an effort to update the blog more. I am always, always, always open to suggestions and opinions, so feel free to let me know what you are loving, what you want to see, what you think. And don't forget to join the mailing list, because there will be a memorable sale come May (my birthday month) and I want you all to know about it!

As always, I thank you for reading, looking, and/or buying!
